Georgia Pine Floors : Your One Source for Pine Flooring
Georgia Pine Floors, Inc. offers expert installation, sanding and finishing services:

Installation Pointers

Without the typical "tongue and groove matched ends" of most hardwood floors, pine must first be cut square to insure proper fit. Also, due to the wider widths and longer lengths, pine poses as a higher challenge to the installer. It is important that you choose an experienced pine floor installer to insure proper fit of your flooring. Remember, it is also these qualities that enhance the aesthetics of the floor.

Pine installers should work with you to insure proper acclamation of your floor. Before installation too much or too little moisture can result in excessive gapping or buckling between planks.

There are two types of installations: Blind nail and face nail. Four inch, six inch and eight inch planks can be blind nailed. With blind nailing, you can’t see the nails because the nail goes into the tongue and is hidden by the groove of the next board. Ten inch and twelve inch planks must be face nailed to insure proper seating. Face nailed boards are hand hammered using cut nails replicated from those used in the early 1800s.

Sanding and Finishing Pointers

All flooring from Georgia Pine Floors, Inc., with the exception of our new Pre-finished selection, is shipped unfinished. Flooring must be sanded and finished. One may choose to stain and seal with a polyurethane finish or penetrating oil finish.

Sanding the floor smoothes the wood and removes uneven edges between planks.

Stains may range from beautiful natural tones to rich customized selections to match your interior décor. For a more antique or hand-rubbed finish, a penetrating oil such as tung oil is suggested. A polyurethane finish seals, protects, and adds a sheen from satin to high gloss. Both residential and commercial grades are available.
